Giovanna Petrizzo has always acted with passion and purpose but not a lot of forethought. This same passion gets her framed for stealing some dissecting frogs from the science classroom as well as the classroom's computer system. It also leads her to (very publicly) break up with her nearly perfect boyfriend. When Gio's twin brother Dante decides to run for student body president, Gio and Dante naturally ask Jesse to act as campaign manager, but he refuses. He agrees instead to help Dante's rival. Giovanna breaks up with Jesse, and although she regrets her decision, she is compelled to fight through the campaign.
A series of misadventures follow that leave Giovanna questioning who to trust and where her loyalty lies. This is a humorous look at high school life and its follies with some surprising depth as well. It teaches lessons about friendship and family with several laugh-out-loud situations. Also, the romance and situations remain clean and age appropriate.
