Cassie Hobbes is a natural at reading people. Noticing details, she can intuitively know what people are like and what they want. But Cassie is also haunted by her mother’s murder after she stumbled upon the crime scene five years ago. When the FBI recruits Cassie to be part of a program of exceptional teens, she is intrigued. She joins their effort in hopes it will help her discover her mother’s killer.
At first the Naturals program asks her to read old case files and practice getting in the minds’ of serial killers. However, as strange things begin to happen, it is clear that the danger for Cassie is real and closer than she thinks. The Naturals is part mystery, but also a fast paced suspense thriller. The writing keeps you wanting more, but avoids the gore and unpleasant details of mainstream suspense novels. Also, the teen perspective makes it a perfect fit for the intended teen audience.
