Natasha is a girl ruled by science and logic. She doesn’t believe in fate or love at first sight. She doesn’t have time for love because her family is being deported to Jamaica in 12 hours. Daniel is the dreamer and the romantic. Although he tries to ignore those feelings and be the perfect Korean son--on his way to Yale and medical school. But on one fateful day in New York City, Natasha and Daniel cross paths. The more time they spend together, the more they see a different side to the lives they are living.
The Sun is Also A Star mainly follows one day in the life of two teenagers, but it covers so many subjects--immigration, prejudice, family tension, future expectations, and love. Yoon’s writing draws readers into the lives of Natasha and Daniel in a way that makes their struggles very real and personal. While on the surface this is a love story, it captures so much more about life and relationships. This is a perfect book if you want strong characters and a compelling story.
