The Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty

Through her adventures as a spy, Sage faces danger, finds romance, and learns what she really wants in life.

The Traitor’s Kiss is an exciting read for fans of medieval-like adventure. Sage is a strong character with an enjoyable personality. While her life events may not be relatable, her attitudes, outlooks and relationships will resonate with teen readers. This is a light adventure read that is remarkable clean--a hard to find plus in YA literature these days.

Jason Reynolds’s As Brave as You is a wonderful coming of age story. Genie’s experience teaches about the trials and blessings of family. He learns about making mistakes, taking responsibility, and how to give and receive forgiveness. A wonderful summer story set in a small, hot Virginia country town.
